| Students planting a seed of change. STAR students at University High School, have been working to break down barriers this school year. The Camp Fire pilot program is designed to have students look at the problems they are having in their schools and community and make them the main advocates in solving these issues. The goal is to affect change on the campus and in the community by creating student leaders who, in turn, teach and guide their peers down the right path. So far this year, the STARs have held an awareness week on campus to bring facts about relevant issues youth are faces. The week focused on teen pregnancy, sex, drugs, abuse and violence. The group is currently in the progress of planning a STARs Challenge. The students will invite 100 classmates to spend a day working on team building and breaking down social barriers. |
