Camp Fire's Traditional Club Programs are based on the 40
developmental assets that are required to help young people grow
up healthy, caring and responsible. Clubs are regularly scheduled
small groups that meet and provide age appropriate activities that
teach independence, responsibility, service to the community and
personal life skills. The club program, which children may join at any
age, offers a mix of fun activities, projects, events and experiences
to help develop planning and decision-making skills as well as skills
related to participants’ individual interests.
Camp Fire has a strong belief that the family is the most important
asset of a child and encourages all family members to participate in
club activities.
Club programs serve four age groups:
Starflight grades K-2
Adventure grades 3-5
Discovery grades 6-8
Horizon grades 9-12
Camp Fire club programs have four important qualities:
1. Progression: Complex, challenging activities increase with age.
2. Variety: The club program develops the whole child and includes
a wide range of activities and skill development.
3. Partnership between youth and adults: Youth and adults together
set the directions for activities and accomplishments.
4. Rewards and recognition: The club program rewards
participation and achievement, helping build self-esteem and
pride.
