Camp Mitchell
At Camp Val Verde, over 70 years of boys and girls have enjoyed the traditions and
friendships that have been developed around the camp fire. With the adventures and
freedom of the outdoors along with the opportunities to make new friends in a fun and caring
environment, today's youth continue these traditions. Whether riding a horse, canoeing down
the Bosque River or going down a zip line, campers can try a new adventures or build upon
old skills. The week long residential camping experience is available for boys and girls ages
10-13.
Camp Val Verde is held at Camp Hope located 2 miles off Highway 84 near Waco. It lies in
the rolling hills of McLennan County only 12 miles west of Waco, Texas. The Middle Bosque
River flows through the wooded 397 acre camp site, making Camp Hope the perfect camp
location.

Temple or Killeen. Camp Mitchell is a 38-acre campsite designed with kids in mind.
Kids enjoy the playground equipment, tire swings on trees, nature trails, sand box,
and a meandering creek ideal for catching minnows and frogs. There is also a lodge
equipped with bathroom facilities and a kitchen for meal times.
Campouts are held at Camp Mitchell 3-4 times per school year (usually every other
month). We also do many day activities at Camp Mitchell, including the Fall Festival
and the Teddy Bear Picnic.

open to members and non-members of Camp Fire. Each week has a different
theme, and during this time youth spend the day doing the theme's activities. Some of
